Source disability resources reclassified
Source has comprehensively revised the disability section of its
classification scheme, and has reclassified over 4,000 relevant
materials in its Bibliographic database. The improved classification
scheme more closely reflects the social model of working with
disabled people. The revision makes reference to WHO’s International
Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF), and
ensures that Source keeps pace with current trends and terminology
in the disability sector. The development of the new scheme was
funded by DFID through the Disability KaR programme, and involved
consultation with experts and practitioners in the disability
and information management fields. Browse through the new
subject terms. Contact Deepthi
Wickremasinghe with comments and suggestions or for further
details.

Source website on CD-ROM
The Source bibliographic database, Resource Centre Manual and
Key lists have been recreated on CD-ROM. Resource centres and
other Source users who have limited access to the Internet will
find that the advanced search technology used on the CD-ROM makes
information retrieval as sophisticated and user friendly as on
the website. Abstracts and distributor details of resources are
given, as well as links to full text documents online where possible
so that these can be noted down to use if and when Internet access
becomes available. Contact Deepthi
Wickremasinghe for further details.

New look for the Source website
The new Source website went live at the end of May and has gone
on to receive positive feedback from both new and existing users.
The main focus of the redesign was on improving the user experience.
New ways of finding relevant information resources have been provided,
and the site has been designed to meet W3C accessibility standards.
The redesign was funded by the DfID Disability KaR programme (see
May 2004 item below). If you have any comments or suggestions
on the new site we would love to hear from you: email Deepthi
Wickremasinghe.
